About

Few traces of the cryptic mid 90’s Alaskan psychedelic noise
underground are discernible in contemporary electronica. Nommo Ogo,
which emerged from this scene in 1996, have continued, both as
recording entity and as cult live act, to carry forward its ethos of
methodical
investigation into the transformative possibilities of
sound. They focus on the psychic effects of sonic manipulation; genre
distinctions are less important to their vision than the evocation of
extra-ordinary states of consciousness. Utilizing hardware sequencers,
analog and ancient digital synthesizers, and electro-acoustic music processing
gear, they melt down the codes and jargon of today's underground
electronic music, stirrring up seething, sometimes bewildering vortices of
mutant rhythm and vibration. They are now primarily based out of
Oakland, California; and are currently active in organizing and performing at the
Autonomous Mutant Festival, as well as events related to the SPAZ
and Katabatik soundsystems.
